Kangaroo Island Eucalyptus Essential Oil
$16.95 – $88.95
I find myself amongst the Narrow Leaf Eucalyptus today here in the city of trees to collect my thoughts about its medicinal value and to find refuge from the California smoke. The Majestic, camphor like tree gives life to air, breath to lungs. It is here, in these groves that I point my nose to the sky and breath.
Kangaroo Island Eucalyptus oil is a rare find and so as is our inclination with any rare oil, we had to have it here at the apothecary. Kangaroo Island Eucalyptus is endemic to the location and the distiller is no fan of shipping outside the country. It took Steven Seagal type maneuvering to import the oil and import it we did. The species itself is of the narrow mallee family that offers pillow like blossoms in the spring, closely resembling the flower of Bottle Brush Tree, with exception to color: Kangaroo Island is creamy Ivory and Brush Bottle a brilliant crimson color. The Bottle Brush also grows prolifically here in Northern California and is a close relative to the Paperbark Melaleuca. So, it appears there is distillation project in my future. Eucalyptus shines in cool mist vaporizers, freshening stale air and cooling summer heat. We find it beneficial in handmade muscles rubs similar to the Tiger Balm formula when added with other oils such as Frankincense and Peppermint to cool and reduce swelling and inflammation. The oil can be helpful to treat head lice and ringworm. Because of the effective antiseptic properties of Eucalyptus, the dental industry uses the oil in root canal sealers and fillers. Add a few drops to the brush. Don’t forget to rinse and split.
Suggested uses: Blend with Honey Myrtle, Fragonia, Yuzu Essential oils in a vaporizer or cool mist humidifier. Can be blended with same oils in a salve or carrier oil to apply to chest which may aid congestive breathing. Also blends with lavender, Cedarwood, Rosemary, and Thyme essential oils.
